Intro to Sock Knitting

  • Gartur Farm FK8 3JY (map)

Always wanted to knit socks, but not known where to start?

Nothing quite compares to handknit socks.  Whether for yourself or as a gift, socks are a fantastic canvas to play with colour and design and, being extremely portable projects, you can always have one on the go in addition to whatever else you are working on at the minute.

This full day course will cover the basics of socks knitting, from choosing great sock wool, magic loop knitting, to selecting your knitting technique (top down or bottom up) to unravelling the mysteries of turning a sock heel.

Experience required: basic knitting skills.

Materials: please bring 100g of sock yarn of your choice and a set of appropriate needles (100cm long 2mm-2.5mm circulars recommended, though if you are more comfortable with DPNs for working in the round, that is fine).

Lunch, teas and coffee provided.

Transportation can be arranged from Stirling Train Station.

If you are travelling from afar, we can also offer bed and breakfast accommodation.
